Northern Oconto River Trout Stocking

The Chapter’s Go Fund Trout Stocking funding donations program exceeded our goal for 2025. Again, with the help from DNR Fisheries Biologist Tammie Paoli and Jerome Winkle at Silver Moon Springs we were able to obtain a trout stocking permit for the northern Oconto River. On April 29th, the Chapter distributed Rainbow trout per permit requirements at the public access locations in Suring, Hintz, Underhill and Pulicfer. Approximately 200 trout were added to the river at each of these locations.

Trout distribution at Suring is done by hand carts with tubs to get fish placed in river near the old bridge rather than in the boat landing lagoon. Thanks to the helpers who made this possible, Wayne Czypinski, Gary Lemmen, Mike Schuh, Darly Smits, Bill Gerndt and Tom Klatt. At the other locations, Jerome Winkle of the Silver Moon truck driver can use his discharge hose to safely launch the Trout into the river.
